Am I pulling my cards in good way?

Hi! I'm new to tarot and I'm not sure is my technique correct. I feel like it's okay for me but let me know!

I'm shuffling cards like playing cards (it's kind of a long process because I'm doing two techniques few times) and then I'm saying outloud number of the cards in spread and my question while shuffling and I'm waiting for the first card that will jump out of the deck

For ex.: "It's a 2nd card in spread: Present. Can you give me a card for present" and waiting for card to jump out.

Sorry for making this post do long but I wanted to be specific.

Can you guide me? 🥺
