Does The Moon card represent the id?

I'm reading 78 Degrees of Wisdom right now. The only major arcana card I've always had a bit of an issue with understanding is the Moon, it feels a bit all over the place so to speak. And I find Pollack's description of the Moon equally as confusing (again, every other card description makes sense). Is she positing that the Moon represents the id? Or is she positing that the Moon represents a tension between the conscious and the unconscious? Or…both? Help! Please!
