how did you learn the cards?

i’ve been practicing (on and off) for months now, but seem to be having a hard time remembering the cards and their meanings. i’m successful at telling a story when i have my book to go by, but i’d like to eventually get more independent and be able to provide readings professionally at some point.

obviously, i realize that this will take time and i’m in no rush, but curious to see what helped you all to learn and grow in your tarot journey? i’m a visual learner and learn by association, so maybe you have some tips and tricks and structure. thanks!
