the Star and ex partner

When I was young I had a toxic relationship with my first gf. It dragged on and affected my life for many years. It was very painful and damaging and I have tried to just disregard it. So, I asked the cards, what if I had never met this person? Only been reading cards about a year but still I thought it needs to be from the major to give me a clear message.

I pulled the Star! I take this to mean my life would have been much brighter. But, now, given that all this time has passed, it there a useful message that can be applied now?
