Thoth/Tarot/kabalah

Im currently reading Duquette's thoth tarot, and in the first half of the book, he goes in depth about the kabalah its meaning etc. I understand that the trumps reference specific paths and/or sephiras.

What I dont understand is how does it relate to the cards?

How is the kabalah used in divination?

I get that studying the kabalah can be a lifelong endeavor, but how am i to use this? or what else should i read that will give me a better idea?
